I ride an 07 street bob i am running V&H short shorts stage1 performance aircleaner and programer however it's hard to start when it gets up to good running temperature. For the most part it starts pretty good when it is cold or cooled down. Could i be suffering from a bad compensator? Any comments?

That compensator isn't your issue; what programmer are we talking about? This is a tuning problem...

Describe the hard start issue a little more clearly. Does it seem like the engine is hard to turn over or does it spin over easily and act like no fuel?

it wants to kick back and sometimes even coughs through the aircleaner

i used the power commander programmer. The pipes air cleaner and programmer was installed in shop. i also want to add that the bike has 90k miles on it i have not let the grass grow under it. this issue has really shown its face since i changed the baffles in the pipes. the originals started rusting apart.

Don't make it harder than it has to be. I doubt it's a tune issue. It sounds just like the multitude of inadequate CCA battery threads we have seen lately. Try a bigger CCA battery just for grins.

Yup, 9 out of 10 times the issue can be solved with a fresh battery, even when the old battery "tests" as being good.

My top three suspects (no particular order) compression release sticking..., weak battery..., starter going bad

Systematically troubleshoot and identify

Just for giggles, remove the mufflers and go for a ride. Try to hot start without them installed. May be a coincidence, but doing this will help rule them out.
