hi everyone .i am almost ashamed topost this.i bought a 07 1200 c.8 weeks later i am on a 07wide. the 1200c was a hoot to ride. but after 60 or so miles my buy hurt.went an traded it.but on this 96 eng.what is this about balanaced shaft on the softtail?rubber mounts on dyna?i went to dealer told him i wanted a smoother ride. was told dyna was better than a soft tail.told him i liked the way the 1200c run. he said dyna was a quicker bike.but now to what i want to know will the dyna motor last as long as the softtail one?
Man, you need to work on your spacing when you type. It took me 5 minutes to decipher that post. Back on topic, yes the soft tail has a counter balanced motor while the dyna's is rubber mounted. It is all about preference. If you are not sure which you prefer, you should have test rode a soft tail and the dyna to decide. I have an '07 WG and I love it. I guess you will know one way or the other soon.
sorry bout spacing never took typing.so are you saying one will be just as dependable as the other one. dont get me wrong am very happy with dyna. just wondering about long term use .it was my thinking that a balanced eng would last longer.thanks 4 reply.
Hey man, how are you. Sorry they were getting on you about the spacing in your post, but it was really hard to read. Hope I'm not coming across like an *******, but thought I would offer you a couple typing tips.
After you put your period at the end of a sentence, hit your space bar twice before starting the next sentence. And to help let people know you are starting a new sentence, makethe first letter of the first word a capital or uppercase letter.
Look forward to seeing you around the fourm more. Welcome!
dynaguy, I guess nobody really answered your question on longevity between the balanced and rubber mounted dyna motors. I have owned 3 dynas, a FLHT and a FXRS. The FXRS had 80,000 mi. when I sold it and all the rubber mounts and top stabilizer link had been replaced as the motor was violently shakingenough to hitthe frame. The '93 FXDL I just sold had 48,000 mi and the mounts were badly worn. I have seen FLH type front mounts go bad with less than 20,000 miles (mine had 30,000 and was fine). I don't know how long the new dyna mounts will last, (I have an '07 WG now and love it!) but I consider them a wear item. I have no clue how long the balance shafts, chains and tensioners will go in a softail, so I guess I didn't really answer your question either. Enjoy your wideglide-you bought a great motorcycle.
