Hi guys. New to the forum. Just bought a project chopper that is for a dyna. I believe it is a 97-98 but my question is, all are dyna engines the same size? Physically that is. I know there are different displacements. But just trying to find what engine i can put in this beast. Thanks
To be honest before I would be looking at an engine, I would be asking myself, why is there a welded Muffler baffler in the downtube, I cannot see how this baffler can support the weight of a harley engine at breaking speed.
Thats not a baffle. Its expanded metal wrapped around the tube and welded. That theme is everywhere on the frame.
Ah OK optical illusion looked like the baffles in my mufflers, to answer engine question, best thing to do is go and measure some old rides, and you can see what fits.
Ya, i found that other frame last night. Best i could find was it was for a 97-98 year range. Just trying to see if i could put a newer dyna engine. I'm new to harleys, I'm a metric guy for the most part. But i love choppers so now I'm building a harley
If the frame was designed for an EVO motor, your mount locations are going to be slightly different for Twin Cam.. not that you couldn't probably adapt something, or cut the front mount out, and weld in a new one.
