I tried for a couple of years to get the T/Max to work properly. After doing a 103 conversion I gave up and reinstalled the stock computer, purchased the TTS box and had the bike professionally dyno tuned. Was a night and day difference. T/max has many shortcomings, for example, it is not compatible with electric compression releases. T/max still requires some work to get it dialed in. You don't simply bolt it on and call it a day. My .02 is to stick with the stock computer, perform all of your engine mods and then get the bike professionally tuned.

Gen IIIs have electric compression release capability. The only short comings I see are that the timing is throttle position based instead of load / map. Mileage will suffer a couple MPG as the result..

Tmax does and excellent job of getting the AFR correct as long as the ignition timing is correct.. They definitely are not a set and forget if you build something that they don;t have a close / later map for..

Of the 2 bikes I've got.

02 RK has been tuned stage 1, and as a 95 with many combinations of 4 different cams, 2 different ported heads. 5-6 different exhausts / mufflers. 4 different throttle bodies. About a month ago I changed cams, it could use a timing tweak but still runs fine...

The EGC, just got a head / bore change from 103 to 107.. Its been tuned, stage 1 (96), 103 with pro-ported heads, 2 throttle bodies, 4 different after market cams, 4-5 different exhaust systems..

Once you figure them out they are pretty easy.. Both have 100/200 dyno pulls for peaking and numbers but not really necessary..

If you don't know how to tune and / or don't ever plan on motor / intake / exhaust changes. A flash tuner and dyno tune is the way to go..

One thing to note is that the pipes need 18mm bungs on the head pipes close to the heads.

I've scored gen II systems that were take offs for a few hundred from guys that were from guys that didn't understand the system.

the only change I've made is the pipes. I've got Vance and Hines Pro Pipe 2 into 1 and since those went on, I get a lot of decel pop. A buddy recommended the TMax to resolve that.

Your buddy is correct. It not only cured my decel pop it improved performance across the board. And the auto tune feature works great.

I haven't really thought about it. I'll shop around and see what I think it's worth, then shoot you a pm.
