Default Saddlebag Question

Does anyone out there know how much of a difference there is betweenthe saddlebag mountings on a 95 dyna and an 06? I've occassionally seen a set of saddlebags for the Dyna Convertible pop up on ebay, and can't help but think they would look good on my FXDBI. That is, if they match up closely enough to mount.

36 hits and no replies. Hmmm... lets try it this way. Does anyone know if I could use a set of Ghost Brackets (or similar product) to install that set of wrong year bags?

I suspect that if you have the proper tools and a little imagination you could retro fit them. I personally was contemplating that but experience has shown me that most of the time I spend $2 trying to save $1.

Hmm... up to 58 hits and one maybe with some modifications. Not the resounding help I was hoping for. Let me try this another way. Is there anyone out there that owns a Dyna Convertible that could shoot me pictures of the rear of the bags, and maybe measure the spacing for the mounting points.

I've accepted this project may very well cost the same as buying a pair of new HD Saddlebags, but I just love the looks of those old convertible bags.

firefighter.....
I have a 2003 FXDL, so I do not know if this will help you, but attached is a pic of how I mounted mine. I just turned 4 stainless spacers and then installed 4 longer grade 8 bolts. It is 10 3/8 inch between centers of the bolts if you want to compare what yours measure.......pg

Nice bike firefighter.

As to your question I would check with some manufacturers to see whether any fitting your year will fit the other year mentioned. Probably not. Thats a long stretch of years where they have made lots of changes. Like my '03 FXDWG seat will not fit an '06, etc. But, on the otherhand, an engine guard to fit my bike will also fit WG's back to lilke '95 or somewhere near there, so one never really knows. You might find out differently, but I'd bet you're best bet is to do an ebay search for your particular year bike for saddlebags of your choice to try and find something reasonably priced, or pony up for something new.

I had to do some altering of the brackets for my Hyway hardbags, but it wasn't that bad.

I don't know much about the bags you're talking about but with easy brackets you could mpount just about any bags you wanted so long as the easy brackets are for the right year Dyna.If the bags are designed for a different mounting system you would have to re drill them for the easy brackets.
