Default Dropped a nut

Alright I figured I'd make light of my latest. Doing a swap of a FXD tank with a FXDWG tank (01) all's going well until I slide outthe bolt through the back tank mount and forget to catch the acorn and the washer. Well the washer ends up on the floor and the acorn is gone. Is the any place down low where this little sucker can hurt anything if if desides to!

I've been looking all over (and under) and can't find it.

Anyway the tank conversion went great.

Just out of curiousity, how much do you have invested into this swap? I too have an FXD and now have drag bars put on. I wish I would have bought a Street Bob version now.

Any pointers/tips for doing this conversion?

I went new with everything but the tank. All the parts from HD came to about 300. I think you can get some parts from after marketers, but I tried some consoles and they didnt quite fit right. The run down from memory is console about 100, chrome console extention 35 (I think I'm going to use a leather one instead), fuel sender about 40 (I think) fuel gauge 70, ignition switch (custom chrome ebay) 25, assorted screws and face plate and bezel for console another 25. All in all if you shop aroundor get a tank that has everything you could do better. You really can't re-use anything like the sending unitor the fuel gauge. The petcock I think you can, but I bought another as well (in case I had to roll back quick). Hope that helps. As for wiring and speedo issues - that's this week. You can use your FXD speedo but have to buy a size adapter chrome ring from JPCycles or you can use a WG speedo and do a rewire. I'm going the rewire route. The big clock looks great. Where the heck is my camera.GeorgeJ

Make sure its not around the pulley/belt area. Similiar thing happened to me and I took the air hose and sprayed all the nooks and crannies and it blew the nut out on the floor. Good Luck

It probably rolled/bounced down the back end of the tranny down underneath the starter into the black hole.

There's a pretty good chance that nut rolled into the deepest, darkest corner of your garage. At least thats what happens when I drop one.

...you can always "drop" anotherone from the same place and watch where it goes this time. But then you may have two lost and / or stuck in the drive belt.
When you drop one while working on the cage it ALWAYS lands exactly half way between either side. Or gets caught in the lower control arm...
