Default Upper fork covers installation

I recently ordered a pair of these and started disassembling the frontend this weekend to install them.

https://shop.thunderbike.de/en/Thund...ck-oxid-1.html

It looks like the space between the upper and lower triple tree is off by 1mm (probably due the thick layer of paint?).

What is the best way to get the covers to fit between the trees? Can I just loosen up the stem nut to get a bit more wiggle room?

They look really good ,I wonder if they'll fit my 18 Street Blob ?
I know how I'd do it but it's a bit left of center .
I'd put her up on blocks and do a leg at a time, crack the top bolt, loosen one side of the tree and take out the spring and drop the leg till the cover goes over it and push the leg back up ,snug it up ,repeat but yea after you size the covers right.
I'm in and out of suspension all the time so yea for me that's the easy way.
It's on you if you try it and a spare pair of hands to control the leg wouldn't hurt either.

My initial plan was to slide the fork down, put the cover between the trees and slide the fork back up. But the covers need just that extra bit of space to fit between the trees, so basically I'm looking for a way to create that space?

forgot to mention: it's a 17 Bob

The fork won't slide down without taking the top bolt off.Well it will but it'll be a struggle
Well grind them down to fit maybe ?
They're not going to fit anyway unless you do something with the length between the top and bottom trees right ?

Grind the less expensive part to fit... or get fork wraps instead of hard tubes..

Assuming you pull everything off, get both forks out, then install one side at a time, you'll probably have plenty of room. I think what you're going to see when you actually do get the forks loose is that there is already some wiggle room between the upper and lower trees.

For those like me who think the price is a bit higher than you'd like to spend, here's a DIY that is considerably cheaper.

So got in touch with Thunderbike...

Apparently there were 1mm spacers included in the package (must've been too excited to see them) which should be installed under the upper tree to provide some extra room...

never done this so gonna be fun...
