Well rivits are loose again now grr after having it tightened up 2nd day of ownership almost 2 yrs ago 23k miles later.I rember seeing a post on here quite awhile back where a guy had posted a pic where he put bolts thru along with acorn nuts.Has anybody else fixed there headlight like that or maybe the bucket being loose is a hit miss when mnfg?

 

Just had mine replaced under warranty. It was loose as hell from day one. Nice job H-D. I was starting to expect poor quality control like this when I had my buell, but this is the first new H-D i've owned that was this bad ( badly finished bars, dinged rear fender that was clear coated over- all were replaced under warranty). The rivets on the headlight bucket are a joke.

 

Same problem here. I drilled the rivets and used small bolts and nuts. Lots of loctite and lock washers as well. It's been about 3 months, and no problems so far.

 

My next project needed a headlight so I went to the HD shop and got a shell that had been replaced because of loose riverts and fixed it by replacing the riverts with stainless bolts.

 

have a new bucket coming under warranty now.said couldnt tighten rivits again so ordered a new one.guess see if this one will be any better? well warranty will be done in sept if it comes loose after that guess ill bolt it together
