I have a 2013 super glide. I am wanting to add risers to move handlebars back. What is the tallest riser in can add without replacing cables. Can I use billet risers. My bike is factory at this point
I forget what bars come on the super glides, mini apes or drag bars? I believe you can only add 2-3 inches, but not 100%. Easy way to tell is to buy gas line from lowes, and cut two pieces 3 inches long, get longer riser bolts, and use the gas pipe as spacers. If they fit with enough slack in the cables, then you know you're good, but I really don't think you'll get more than 2 inches.
I I have a brand new +4 brake line (non abs/single caliper, +4 throttle cables that were used, and I might still have a +4 clutch cable as well. They were all off my old 15 Fxdb, if you're interested let me know and we'll figure a fair price. If you replace your cables you can get a lot more height which to me is worth the work. I find 16 inch apes to be perfect for me, but that's just me.
Install is a simple job; torque on the riser bolts is 35 - 40 ft lbs. These are 3" riser extensions on my Wide Glide. No problem with brake line, bike is non-ABS; throttle cables and bar wiring, no issue. The clutch cable is at its limit; any higher would require a new clutch cable...
Yes I work in a machine shop so I am going to build 2 in extensions. Are they easy to install?
That's what I did to hold me over til I had money for a magnum shielding abs brake line. I ran my 2.5 inch rider extensions for about a year before I finally got my 16 in apes from my previous sb installed. They just barely fit and it raised the bars just enough to make it comfortable. I love my lrs, but goddamn that bike is uncomfortable from the factory. Forward controls, ape hangers, and the stock street Bob solo seat made it perfect.
Thanks for sharing this. I had a look and they look good. Prices are good too. But says it doesn't fit a dyna low rider s. My bike is in storage so can't get to it now but figure the low rider s must use 1.25 inch risers and bars as opposed to 1 inch?
