Default Progressive shocks, time to replace?

So I did my due diligence and read THIS thread before posting. Unfortunately I wont be able to chat with Progressive about a potential rebuild until Monday so I thought I'd ask the collective what shocks to go with if I decided to just buy new.

My left side shock is leaking what appears to be hydraulic fluid AND heavy grease.

I ride daily and I ride hard. I'm roughly 230lbs and sometimes (but rarely) have a passenger. I'm browsing the options on Dennis Kirk but I'd like suggestions. I dont want to spend a ton on shocks but we all know how that works out.

I've heard that lifting the Dyna a little will actually give it better handling so I'm open to going with longer rear shocks.

Go ohlins. The money after 2 mid range progressive sets of trial and error and break downs is worth it. Built like tanks and servicable. Do it right the first time. 12.5 inches is plenty. 13.5 is if your riding like you stole it. I used to race sportbikes also and i rarely have clearance issues on 12.5. Its all about body position.

If you ride hard, go with something that is built for you and can be tuned to your riding style. There's more to a performance shock than just a stiffer spring or single setting valving. It's easy to hold a line through a curve on a smooth road, but hitting a mid corner dip or bump with a properly tuned shock is a breath of fresh air.

My vote is for Ohlins from MM. Probably the Blackline or #6 (depending on the budget and the look you're after) but talk to him and see what he recommends.

You're probably going to hear these same recommendations a lot, and a few that say not from Howard, but I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not at least talking to him.

Get your Progressives rebuilt under warranty and sell them to offset some of the cost.

I have pro-action shocks from dk customs on my switchback and they are a great upgrade over the stock shock and are rebuildable.

Progressive is junk. Get a real shock thats servicable. Hagon for bang for the buck as one mentioned if you are on a budget.

Well shoot dang, I went ahead and ordered some Progressives but they're back ordered, that being said they come with lifetime warranty, Ohlin is a little out of my budget, Hagon is within the budget but looks like only 2 year warranty and ships from over seas, am I missing something with Hagon?

When I ordered the Hagon's for my XG750A Street Rod I was the first for that bike. It took less than 2 weeks from custom ordering to in my hands. They do all come from the UK now. Customer service is top notch.

I had gotten Progressive back on the phone and they recommended THESE which conflicted with the DK recommendation on the site. I ordered them and it will be several weeks before they arrive.
