Progressive shocks,rebuild or replace ?
Had my bike up on the lift yesterday to change out the sissybar and discovered the right shock was busted. The cartridge was totally seperated at the top.
I understand Progressive offers a rebuild service. Anybody know how much they charge. These are eleven inch, chrome heavy duties, part number 412-4045C.
Understand this is not too uncommon. Does anybody have just one of these that is still good that they'd like to get rid of ?
Eastern Performance sells these new for 209.95 with free shipping. Best price I've found so far.
Really can't complain about the shocks, they've got about 35 or 40 thousand miles on them. I weigh 240 and have ridden thousands of miles with the bike way overloaded. Broke the upper mounting bolt on this same shock last year on the way to Sturgis when I hit a big bump on the interstate with a full load of camping gear. Didn't discover this til I unloaded my gear. Figure I probably ran a hundred miles on one shock. They're pretty tough.
Thanks for any info.

Tommay, about "Broke the upper mounting bolt", I had that same issue as well.I actually broke 2 of those. I ended up swapping out the 06 upper shock hardware for the 08 hardware. They went from bolts to studs in 08. Haven't had a problem since. Just thought I would throw that out there.

I have an extra pair of 412 standard duty and one blew a seal. The other is good. You can have it for cost to ship if you have the tools to swap the springs. Same shock, difference is in the springs.
Thanks
Tom
