I have to replace my Pirelli Night Dragons that I really liked over the OEM Dunlop 401/402
The only reason I would consider changing is for a better ride.
The handling on the Night Dragons have been awesome but that's not the only thing for consideration.
I have chosen as my options:
Dunlop American Elite
and
American Commander II
Let me know what you think and if you changed over from the Night Dragons for any reason.
thanks
I can't speak for the night dragons, but I just changed over to American Elites from the stock Dunlops. Night/Day difference. If I had known a Dyna could be this smooth, I wouldn't have bought mine based on the first ride, but I'm loving these AE's. Who knew you could use the mirrors on a Dyna at interstate speed?
I went from the stock Dunlops to Avon (Cobra, Venom, Storm) and loved the difference. Really sticky and great experience. Then I went to the Night Dragons after my build and like them too. Id compare them to the Avons but with a more durable feel. Not necessarily better but grippy and durable. I still think Avons were a bit softer biased compound and a little sticker when hot.
All in all, youre going to feel a night and day difference no matter what you go with. Even if you replace them with the sane brand rubber, youre still gonna feel a huge difference.
Just stick to what you like. Depending on riding style, Id say Avon or ND.
Thanks for the comparison between the Avons and Pirellis. Haven't seen an owner comparison of them before. I can't yet get the Dragons in my sizes but I've looked at them several times.
As far as buying tires, I like Jake Wilson. Other have reported good results with Revzilla.
