So, long story short, I'm down to one baffle right now. I've ran straight pipe before, but would running one cylinder straight pipe and one baffled hurt the motor? I believe I have V&H Short Shots (not slash cut), but I can't find any markings on the heat shields or exhaust itself. If anyone knows of any "performance" baffles I can replace the old ones with lemme know. I went back and could find the one that fell out.
It won't hurt the motor to run with just one baffle, but performance will suffer. If you can take out the other one and post a pic I'm sure someone here will recognize it. I've had great success (sound and power) with the thunder torque inserts from DK Customs. Since they recommend removing the stock baffles you're already part way there. And if I recall the pair cost me about $30 shipped. Best bang for the buck. You can also fab a pair of lollipops for just a couple of bucks in parts.
Baffles are sold in singles not pairs from vance and hines so if you know that the other baffle is stock or quiet baffle you should be able to purchase just one. I highly highly recommend the quiet baffles for the short shots if you don't already have them. I tried going the DK custom insert route to save money and was not happy with them at all. Not to mention they were a pain in the *** to install and a even bigger pain in the *** to remove. The quiet baffles went in easily and I'm very happy with the sound/performance over the standard baffle. They are much deeper in sound but don't actually quiet the exhaust down that much. Still loud pipes just with a much better tone to them now.
@nevil thanks for the info! Might check out DK Cutoms. @shodown220 I only have this exhaust cause I can't afford the one I want right now, so If I can find a cheap option to fix the problem that would be ideal. I'll definitely look into the quiet baffles though. "Quiet" baffles are really not something I look for though. haha.
You can try looking in the for sale areas of the forum, there might be someone selling baffles that would fit. And quiet baffles are not very quiet at all, just a bit deeper. Be assured that people who are inclined to hate you for your pipes will hate you just as much if you have quiet baffles.
Installing the TTI's was not difficult, just need to drill a hole in each muffler and bolt it in.

I completely understand. Only reason I ended up with short shots was right after I bought my bike I came across a set on clearance at the dealer for stupid cheap. I think they were like 150 bucks. Anyways I paid 70 bucks for the quiet baffles last year because I wasn't real happy with the tone of the stock baffles, for me the quiet baffles were a huge improvement in sound. It only actually quieted the bike down maybe 2 decibels so it is still just as loud but the sound is so much better. The sound is good enough now that I keep putting off a new exhaust because I'm just that content with the way it sounds now.

If you're interested in a cheaper alternative to the quiet baffles I found some aftermarket ones that slipped right in on my V&H straightshots: V-Twin PN 30-1434.
