1999 FXDX tail light super bright then burns out

I unplugged the little pig tail that has the bulb receptical in one end and plugs into the junction at the fender. I then tested the terminals directly and have the appropriate 12 volts so I knew it was that pig tail that was shorting out.
Part of the issue was/is also the front brake lever... it's like the plunger that comes out of the reservoir doesn't push the lever forward enough to make contact with the switch so it makes it look like the brake light is alwars on, so I need to look at that as well.

Are you shure its the plunger and not the switch?

Members helping each other in here is why I volonteered as a moderator a long time ago (12/2010)
Did you find the culprit?

I think (I'm looking at this at work - will know more once home) but I think we need to make sure the brake brackets etc... are tightened up correctly - that's my working theory at the moment.
