On my brothers 2007 Super Glide I have a leak coming from the primary chaincase housing at the shifter shaft bushing. Now the bike has been converted to forward controls a long time ago but the leak has been about a year now. Originally he thought it was coming from the cover but after replacing the gasket twice he brought it to me to find the leak.
So here's my question. The service manual says to punch out the bushing from the inside but to put the new one in it needs to be pressed in from the outside. Obviously to replace a $5 bushing I would need to take apart a whole lot of the bike so I'm looking for suggestions on how to potentially seal the bushing from the inside especially because it's not really needed any more.
Heres a pic and the pen is pointing to the bushing.
Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the idea's guys. I like the idea of a freeze out plug. Safe to assume you pushed it out from the inside and installed the same way? I thought about the RTV only route but I've seen RTV peel away when it's not sandwiched between two surfaces.
Anyone who might know the size of the plug would be greatly appreciated.
I used a gas hose and put a button head bolt in the end to seal the hole. It works better to make sure the tower gasket doesn't move in the first place though and may not work as well to seal a leak.

Yes that's right.
EDIT: Somehow missed your post about solving the problem. Looks really good.
