Or should I say, more crazy, to look into trading my '06 Low Rider for an '07 Low Rider if the deal isattractive enough. I've had it 10 months and nearly 10,000 miles. No real problems and lots of fun. The only difference would be the 96 ci vs. the 88 ci motor and slightly different gear ratios in the two 6 speeds.
Tbone,
You got rocks in our head? No, keep what you got. You know what condition it's in. You don't have any problems with it. You looking to get some with the 07? If you really want a bigger motor, just have yours bumped up to 95". That way you still know what you got. Plus, you'll save money in the long run. Don't do it. My $.02.
I think the consensus is keep the 88 and build it.You can build a nice 88 or 95 with gear driven cams and high flow heads for what you're going to lose on the trade.
Why would you want to lose 10 miles per gallon in mileage, and sit over a overheated engine?
I have owned an 06 and an 07 and the gas milage is about the same, very little difference.
I have not noticed the engine being ant hotter on my 07 than the 06 either.
I do notice that the 07is fatser than my 06 was and it runs smoother. The reasonI traded
the 06 on my 07 is because the 06 hadserious surging problems at around 2k rpms.
Thanks for the understanding replies. You know how it is sometimes. The gleam of a new paint job hits your eye and for a moment you are oblivious to all around you. Like the rabbit wrenching on the chopper in Fritz the Cat.
Fortunately, I got out of there before I did anything foolish.
I'm positive I would lose money on a straight deal. It would have to be the deal of alifetime.
I sure liked that all black bike, though. No, no - get away.
Had my 06 Low Rider bored out to 95 inches, installed 9.5 Screaming Eagle pistons and Andrews TW37H cams, and Corematic .0030 gaskets. Total cost using an independent mechanic-$1150. Test rode an 07 recently. Felt sluggish compared to my 06.

What do ya'll think?
Keep what you got , that 96 is the same bore as an 88 but withlonger strokes , more wearon the motor , it's not worth it for a couple of more H.P., and not to mention of course higher taxes , because that's all you'll begetting !
