2013 Dyna Fxdc help!
Hello everyone! Brand new to this forum and new to the harley world! I've had my 2013 Fxdc since may this year and I have had an absolute blast! Today I am in dire need of some expert advice. I want to ride as soon as possible but as of 2 weeks ago I'm experiencing some problems that simple won't let that happen. I've been encountering a complete stall while I have the throttle on while hot. Cold I can ride about 10minutes before the acceleration just stops and comes back on. Off and on off and on ECT... I am getting diagnostic code p1632 but that has nothing to do with what I'm experiencing. It will idle hot or cold. I'm thinking coils? Basically I'm at a stand still of keep throwing parts at it or suck it up and ask for help. Well here I am! I appreciate this forum and what I have learned so far trying to pin point this problem thank you guys and its an absolute pleasure (until this problem) to be apart of the harley owners club! (15yrs riding experience mostly dirt bike riding and sport bike riding) thank you for all your help!
That code is often shown when there is a voltage problem. Simple stuff first. Check your battery cables, at both terminals and at the ground connection. They need to be clean and tight. You should also get the battery load tested after it gets fully charged.
Check the contacts on your fuses and relays, too.
Don't go replacing parts until you have diagnosed them to be faulty.

Thanks for the advice. I really should have known better than to just start researching and not getting out the multimeter. Before I could just start it up but I noticed the LCD display would flicker and last night nothing. Took the battery out and it said 12v then I hooked it all back up and while in the bike its only got 5v! So...must be a bad battery? Its charging up now. But the guy I bought it from said it was new but wouldn't be the first premature battery failure. If not that...starter? Something is robbing the power some where...
You need to load test the battery to find out if its bad. It could read 12v with no load, but under a load it will drop dramatically if its bad. Also, a fully charged battery will read a little over 12V.

Agreed. If it was something on the bike pulling a good battery down to 5 volts there's be smoke coming out somewhere. OTOH, a bad battery will pull down easily. Charge it up and have it load tested.

Yeah I plan on buying a battery load tester. Strange I never needed one before but after charging the oem battery it worked for a day although it was cranking over pretty slugish and today it made the most horrid sound trying to turn over. Hopefully its just a bad battery but I'm thinking it might be a bad starter at this point at least I can still ride my sportbike lol I just really love my harley being able to ride in comfort and long distance. I appreciate all the help guys. Eventually I'll figure this out hopefully there is a couple more months of riding but montana you can never be to sure... it would just suck not being able to ride the harley.
Well I have a manual coming in tomorrow but I also downloaded the service and electrical manual. Hope the clymer manual I ordered has both. In this case something physical would be easier to manage instead of going through a book on a phone... after reading the starter section it really seems to be the culprit so a new starter and battery is in order. But I like learning mechanical stuff might be possible to rebuild starter could be the clutch... tomorrow ill get in there and actually get to work to see what's what (but of course battery comes first in testing (think my mind is just going nuts) to eliminate)

That would seem to indicate a problem with your charging system. Don't order any parts until you figure out what's really going on.
Just about any auto parts strore will test your battery free.
