I'm getting bad decel popping on my 2012 street bob, I'm guessing it needs tuned, I'm gonna have to take it to the dealer because I don't have the knowledge to do it myself, does anyone have an idea of how much I'm looking at to get this done?
Your bike shouldn't all of a sudden go out of tune, unless something was just done to it. Check for intake and exhaust leaks before you start spending money on it without knowing more. And check to see if it threw any codes.
More info would help, like how many miles, what kind of mods, when was it serviced, etc. You know, the ordinary stuff that makes it easier to diagnose a problem over the internet.
Aftermarket pipes will also cause decal pop. Even if its just slip on pipes. If you have it Dyno tunes youll have to buy a tuner anyway so it might be worth buying a powervision (or whatever your preference is) from fuel moto. If you buy from fuel moto they will send you a tune for your specific bike/engine/upgrades. It wont be as good as a dyno tune but will get you pretty close.
Another thing to consider about getting a dyno tune is that you want a tUner who knows what theyre doing. I spent 400 bucks from a tUner in my area that was supposed to be one of the best and all I got was an extra 2 ft lbs of torque, a slightly smoother curve, and an engine that still runs far too hot.
Do your research, read through threads, and ask questions.
Sounds like you dont have much done to the bike performance wise, maybe an exhaust and air cleaner? If so, youre in the same boat as me. I'd pick up an FP3 or something similar. They are very easy to use and I have pretty much eliminated 90% of my decel pops.
