I've got an '11 Street Bob, stock 96" mill, with a K&N heavy breather and (currently) some Vance & Hines big radius 2 into 1's. I'm looking at tuners, but I'm getting lost in the details. So, what are y'all running? I'm looking at the Power Commander V, the FuelMoto Micro EFI, and the Dobeck TFI. Personally, I'd like to thumb my nose at the EPA and get rid of the O2 sensors, so I'd rather have a kit that has the eliminators. That said, however...I really want a system that is easy to set up, adjust and preferably, don't cost me an arm and a nut.

Thanks in advance!
Get rid of the O2 sensors and you could be thumbing your nose at your engine. I've got two 08 Dyna's (mine and the wife's) and each are expertly tuned with their own SEPST. Aftermarket is fine, but neither bike is triple-digit HP. The wife's 08 is a 96" with SE air cleaner and mufflers and S&S 551 E-Z starts. It's the smoothest running HD I've ridden. Mine has the SE 103 kit with 10:1 cast pistons, S&S air cleaner, S&S 583 E-Z starts and an RB 2-1 Black Hole exhaust. It came with the V&H Big Radius 2-1; a gorgeous pipe that was crap on the dyno. It's now got over 100ft lbs of torque and both bikes have carried us through 30+ states and 6 provinces. It'll help a lot if you have an end-game planned, rather than just throwing money at your motor whenever you're feeling like a change. Also; if I was buying used and was looking at an '11 which the owner figured was better without O2 sensors, I'd walk to the next bike...just saying.

Just a question, why remove the O2 censors? I have a 06 and the previous owner removed them. I still cant understand why! #clueless I would want a pair tho! Hit me up if someone has a pair!

Standard narrow band O2 sensors used by vehicle manufacturers aren't terribly useful for performance tuning. They are calibrated to a very narrow A/F ratio for EPA compliance and any ratio much outside of that is simply "lean" or "rich". How lean or how rich isn't capable of being measured. EPA compliance may require a ratio of 14.7:1 while best performance may be at 11:1. A standard sensor would just kick out the exact same "rich" reading for everything (for example) below 14.2. Useless for closed loop control or tuning if we want the engine at 11.

A wide band has a much broader range and can actually report the measured A/F ratio. They take more wires and controlling software/hardware to use, but they're actually useable for something other than EPA compliance.

This is something weve all been thru. On one hand you dont wanna get raped by Harley for a lousy "stage" based downloadthat you have to also pay to get downloaded onto the ECM just to have to get the NEXT stage download the NEXT time you do something major to youre bike! And on the other hand , you dont wanna shell out 3 or 4 hundred bucks for a tuners thatll possibly f*** up youre Warranty aside from the fact that you cant put it on your next bike or sell it since most of them marry onto the VIN it originally is installed on. I found a decent product called EJK (ELECTRONIC JET KIT) and it only cost about $200 bucks and works great! Its a piggyback type deal where it goes in between your fuel injectors and the fuel injector plugs/harnesses where it also gets powered thru. The only other wire to hookup is to negative battery terminal and youre good to go! It comes preset for a typical "stage 1" setup so its assuming you have at least a high flow Air filter and exhaust already. But If you dont then simply set all three sections to zero and youre back at factory settings. Even with stock setup you can benefit from this just to at least have eased up the factory lean condition. Sure you can get a much more detailed tune from a power commander but as my brother always days, "for what we're doin here...", it will suffice. Long as youre not planning anything more than a cam upgrade or stage 2 setup, youll do just fine. Its not that serious. If youre that worried about the tuning detailed you can get what i got going now and get tuning software and learn to tune direct to ECM and you can really get down to business with some numbers but then youll have all your bros hitting you up to tune their bikes and youll end up doing a couple to Make back what you spent then it becomes a job and its not fun anymore.....but you just running street /daily rider and you wanna compensate for the high flow filter n exhaust or to fully complete your "stage 1" badge, lol, youll do just fine with this. Its not that serious, the only difference youll notice between this product and PC or FuelPak, etc are gonna be minute dyno numbers on sections of the powerband that you may rarely or never even hit. Best part, you can sell it if it doesnt fit your new bike and it wont mess with your Warranty

That EJK is, I think anyway, basically what I got when I ordered the Micro EFI from Fuel Moto. I installed it the other night and the bike seems to be running good with it. I ended up ordering the O2 sensor eliminators from the United Kingdom, since I couldn’t find anyone in the states that sold them for my bike. Price wasn’t bad, but the wait is ridiculous (up to 3 weeks!).

A lot of guys on here are real tech savvy on tuning and are asking why I want to get rid of the O2 sensors and warning me about the dangers of doing so, but your answer is spot on what I was looking for - an affordable tuner that keeps it simple- adjusting and tuning like a carb.

Thanks again!
