Default smogger

The Dyna Low I recently purchased was a California model, and has a smog device/canister, and vacuum lines from/to the gas tank, and a vacuum line to the carb. Has anyone successfully removed the smog system and if so how did it change the fuel mixture/jetting needs.

mine has a carburetor, I was told by a source to just plug the vacuum port at the carb, and plug the nearest line at the tank...not sure how fuel injection systems bypass the smog can...

The can (charcoal canister) collects the vapors that come from the gas tank vent, filters them, then puts them into the intake manifold. Believe it or not, it has no effect on jetting at all. Do not plug the line that comes out of the tank or else the pump (fuel injected) or carb will starve for fuel. On my 06, the vent line from the tank has a check valve in it, so you can just leave it open after the check, disconnect the line on the intake and plug the fitting, and remove the whole can with the plastis hoses intact. If you push down the tab on one side of the can, it slides right out sideways, do not I repeat Do not remove the two allen bolts underneath it, or you will be un doing the front motor mount.
