Default Height Problem

to start I purchased a used 08 Dyna last July.Because of my height I chose to lower the bike with a Burly slammer kit. What a gigantic mistake.Harley dealer told me the ride would change a little, that was a lie.Ride is very hard now.So what are the ways to fix this.Replace the rear shocks?I have looked at the JP site and was thinking about getting the Progressive 12inch shock.I would then only lower slightly to keep from bottoming out so often,or coming off the seat and landing on the passenger seat. This happened yesterday on my ride along the delaware river. Will the progressive shock fix this with proper adjustment or do I have to go with a stock shock and get an inch and a half added to the bottom of my boots? At this point I wouldn't mind being on the ***** of my feet if I could get a decent ride.I am open to suggestions.TIA

You can get a set of Öhlins S36 shocks in 12” that will ride way better then any Progressive’s. You can have them made with the exact spring for your weight so you’re not loading the spring up with excessive preload, or having too much spring for your weight.

But lowering the bike removes suspension travel so you really should have expected a rough ride. And looking at those shocks it looks like you’ll get spring bind pretty easily. Did you lower the forks also?

How tall are you I have a 2006 Dyna super glide and I'm 5' 2" at 160 lbs. I too needed to lower the bike to get flat footed. I also Slammed the bike front and rear and put a Bare Bones seat on her. yep! It's a hard ride. I have the shocks set at the highest setting . The shocks take a while to break in so it's no bad at all for me.

I have 11" Pro Action shocks on one of my bikes.

They were built to order to suit my weight and riding style. Despite being a lowered shock they have more travel than the stock dyna shocks or the progressives on my other dyna.

But the Pro-Actions ride the best out of the three.

Just remember that the difference between an 11" and a 12" shock is less than that in terms of ride height. I Fitted higher clearance pegs and exhaust so I still have the same cornering clearance as a stock height bike.
