A helmet with a beak (sun shield above the eyes) will cause buffeting. A full face helmet with the shield closed will help a lot with the buffeting problem.
For something to do, I made these lowers using windshield quick detach clamps, aluminum pieces and clear stuff from hardware store. They move the air flow down and away, and I feel like riding in a bubble, even with a helmet and beak. The tool bag help also. You can buy ready made lowers. Check with the sponsors on the right.
I don't use them much as the FF helmet works well. I don't use the shield unless (sometime) I'm out for a all day ride. Just an old man riding in the wind. :-)

These are Memphis shades, made a BIG difference. I can now read signs on the freeway haha! Everything will probably come off once it warms up again but I wont use my full size windshield without them.
I use those Memphis Shades one too, on long trips. I agree they make a big difference and, from more than a few feet away, they basically 'disappear' visually, which is nice...
Not sure which windshield you have. The first one I had for my dyna was the Harley quick detach one that was 18" over the headlight. Buffeting was terrible. Then I changed to the Harley qd windshield that is 14" over the headlight and the buffeting was 95% gone.

I have the one thats 18" above the windshield. I also have a Memphis Shades Spartan windshield I might try it to see how it works.
I have a set of the Memphis Shades lowers. I used them once and didn't find they made much, if any difference with my HD Super Sport shield. But I imagine the positioning is very important, and to be honest I didn't invest much time in that. I rarely use a windshield, except on long trips where I anticipate hitting rain. I might revisit the lowers before my next road trip.
