Default Speedometer mounting problem

I have an 01 FXDX and I installed some riser bars with a 1in pullback now my speedo/tach are mounted almost 90 degrees so it's rather difficult to read them while riding.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to build a bracket or something to get it mounted back in a better angle but geometry was never my strong suit. First I was like I can just put a whim under it but that would only raise it up not change the angle. I am concerned though if I make a bracket of some sort will vibrations be an issue, and should I just make something out of like 1/8" steel or something?

Can someone post a pic or a diagram of what I need to build or buy to fix this? Because I can't get an image in my head of what it needs to look like.

In the pics in case it's unclear the bracket is held in by the 2 bolts on the top and goes straight across.

I had a similar situation when relocating the speedometer on My Street Bob from the dash to the bars with pullback MX T bars. I ordered a gauge pod from KNS customs with a t bar mount not the top clamp mount like in your pic since my bars are one piece. When installed like you the gauge was still facing down more than I wanted so my mechanic had to bend the bracket a bit to get the speedo at the correct angle. I’m not sure that you could accomplish the same thing with that stock set up that you have because the indicator lights are right in line with the bolts. Check out KNS customs they have a two gauge pod that might work for your set up, or at the very least check out a T bar mounting clamp from them or LA Choppers sells them too. Then you can install them on the risers and it could possibly help the angle. I’ve attached a pic. Good luck!

They both have interesting products however that's not what I am looking for and is waaaaay to expensive.
I just want to build a small bracket to change the angle, a new gauge pod or something is just unnecessary.

I'm thinking about something like this just bigger and thicker to support the weight.

I understand. You really don't need a new pod like you said. Check out the T bar mount they're not too expensive. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...hoCM4IQAvD_BwE
You can mount this bracket to the riser portion of the bars and then bolt the gauges to it.

sleeves/tubing and longer bolts

Sleeves are red in the diagram below and cut to the angle you want to tilt.

On the left is what you have now. The drawing is not necessarily to scale.

And I would probably want to add a gusset at each side.

I'm not familiar with that gauge mounting so there may be an obvious reason this won't work...but...why not just bend the mounting tabs?

Really? You think a couple of angled shims will do the trick? It's worth a shot i suppose, i'll cut a few different shims and try it out

Its pretty small of a area and its cast aluminum so bending it will likely snap it off, can't really heat it prior to bending with all the wires and everything. One of my first ideas was to just bend it, till i looked at it closer and realized it was prob a bad idea.

So I finally got enough time to mes with this and I cut some 30 degree shims and they don't work. As shown in the pic you can see they don't login up right and cause a gap on one side of the shim.
Any ideas?

You need another angled shim, reversed, on top so the nut sits flat.

(What Mud said....)

https://www.speed-kingscycle.com/pro...-gauge-spacers

these are angled spacers used for guys using tall straight risers to angle them up for better viewing, but if you mounted them backwards they would lay them down further, at least in theory.
