I have a 2015 Dyna Wide Glide. Im installing a new exhaust. So, as i removed the flange bolts one of them came out completely attached to the stud. Instead of trying to remove the (I guess rusty) stud and ruining the threads. I just order a factory replacement. I got same length and size. Instructions said, use a jam nut setup and ratchet it in. Everything went fine and it seated. The problem now is, the flange bolt is about a 1/4" shorter than the rest now. By the looks of all the rest, the coarse threads are about a 1/4" exposed from entering the head? Mine is as i stated above. Was i not supposed to "Seat" this flange bolt? That just didnt make sense to me.
any input from anyone that knows what im taking about would be greatly appreciated.
i just dont want to proceed installing the exhaust if the flange bolt isnt going to clear. Ive check this and it looks to be ok. But, i want to do this right.
Thank You.
I've never seated my flange bolts in the heads. Not sure I'd want to as the recess is longer than the end that goes in so you are seating the expanse between the two thread ends to the outside of the head. That can cause issues with the threads and surface on the head.
1/2" crows foot worked like a charm!
My new Vance and Hines Super Radius Exhaust is ready to go!
I pulled the baffles and installed Big City Thunder Monster Baffles and its sounds great!
