This is more of a general info thing but I thought I'd post here to help my Dyna bros, lol.
I finally was running low on Loctite and needed to get more. Ran over to NAPA and just grabbed a blue and a red and when I got home noticed the numbers were different from what I had. I noticed that before but never given it too much thought so I decided to look into it. I found a chart that shows the differences and attached it here in case anyone else is interested. Maybe a lot of you already knew the number codes anyway.
What I got of the shelf at NAPA turns out to be the general use blue, which is what I wanted, but the red they sold is the 'mil-spec' version. 🤷
I just ran out of blue a couple weeks ago and noticed that Locktite 242 had been replaced with 243. From what I understand, 243 will still setup if the fasteners aren’t degreased. It’s oil compatible whereas 242 wasn’t and the fasteners needed a good douching. Sure enough, the old school 242 isn’t on your list.
I got tempted to order a bottle on Amazon, was definitely cheaper, but I read the reviews. It seems most of the Locktite 243 on Amazon may be counterfeit.
Yep, lot's of counterfeit stuff out of China and lot's of US resellers just marking up and passing on Chinese products you can buy much cheaper from aliexpress without really adding any true value. Anything to make a buck these days. The faceless internet is truly the wild wild west and caveat emptor means more today than ever.
Boy, that touched a nerve. OK, i'm done with the soap box, anyone else need to borrow?

Thank you. That chart is now in my REFERENCE library
For some reason, the link wouldn't work for me. I'm finding that this '13 FXDC vibrates a LOT!!! I thought it was hilarious when my FitBit on my wrist, while I was sitting at a stop light, indicated that I hit 7000 "steps", due to the vibrations of the bike! I've had multiple parts fall off the bike, and a few turn signal brackets have broken, due to vibrations, so I think I need to use this stuff more often, on pretty much EVERYTHING on it!!

I have Acrobat Reader, but when I click on the link, nothing happens. It doesn't even try to open, nor does it prompt me for an application to use to view it. I'm an IT guy, so I know how this should work.
Sorry! My system was automatically "saving" it to my hard drive instead of displaying it. I got it.
