I have an 07 wideglide was wondering the benefits (if any) of one of the hypercharger air cleaners. i like the look but am at a point where i want some more performance rather than just show. r these things a good purchase.??????
If you're looking for a performance increase a Hypercharger will give you as good an increase as just about any other air cleaner out there that uses a K&N air filter, but nomore. If you like the looks of the Hypercharger and don't mind spending the bucks it cost go for it - if you want to save money and get just as much performance buy something like a Ness Big Sucker. In my opinion the Hypercharger is waymore successful as a "marketing gimmick" than it will ever beas a high performance air cleaner.
I fully agree with EVO80, and I think most people here agree that they are a cosmetic enhancement with aperformance improvement similar to a HF air filter. I also think they look cool.
Hey, the other optrion is a blower if you really want to go hard [sm=icon_rock.gif].
(yeah yeah I know, too much $$$$. Same reason I don't have one)
I completely agree with Evo.. you will not see any performance improvement, that you wouldnt already get with a big sucker or SE High performance air intake. I looked at this option for a bit and decided against it and went with the HD 8 inch chrome cover. Looks kinda ol' skool ... and dosent grab as much hot residual engine air as the old football cover did especially at idle.
I have one, bought the bike used w/it. like others have said its the k/n filter that gives it the juice. dam thing nearly interferes w/my brake operation cause it portrudes somewhat more so than others. [:@]
gotta admit its a conversation piece and the action of the butterflies gives it a "hotrod hoodscoop"type feel. if I had a carbed bike on a budget I'd go w/big sucker otherwise hypercharger.
a local performance guy told me that the hyper chargers do not add anymore than a stage 1 airfilter kit. you can pumpall theair into the hole you want but the engine is only going to suck it so much!
