Default Jack Stand

Looking for a jack stand/lift that is wide enough for a 2000 Dyna Wide Glide. Thanks in advance for your suggestions !

Pic # 1 will work fine
Pic # 2 you need this or some wooden blocks to keep it level / stable
Pic # 3 there is an optional wheeled base for the jack

There are a few threads from a couple of years back that covers this topic. There is one ATV type jack that works out of the box as well as directions on how to modify a less expensive jack from Sears or Harbor Freight to work, or, as I and others have done, pretty much any ATV or motorcycle jack and a couple of wooden blocks and Bob's your uncle...

Not sure if they are the same

for my 2011 Dyna FXDF

I purchased an old rusty Sears Motorcycle jack
I saw this done on youtube but I made a few more mods. I cannot find the video.

I cut off the round pipe at the top that joins the two channels.
I removed the rubber off both top channel plates. I mounted 1X2 wood on the outside edges of the channel.
The flat plate across the front, kept the jack from going deeper under the bike, so I cut it off and moved it back (I would have to measure how far back)
I unbolted both top channels, got longer grade 8 bolts and washers for spacers and bolted the channels to the outside to increase width of the jacking plates.

by spreading the top plates and using the 1X2 wooden slats, no Adapter Kit is needed.
It will only fit under the frame by straightening the bike off jiffy stand.
It worked great till my jack started leaking. Somewhere on the bottom. I bought a $20 bottle jack at HF and jerryrigged it on. It works but it lacks height the previous jack had.

I can snap a pic of it. Recently, a buddy was cleaning his garage and realized he had a motorcycle jack he no longer needed. He gave it to me and its a Sears in much better condition. I need to swap and modifiy this one or just change out the jack.

this image, I copied of the net with my edits

Yes, it moved the stress points to the bolt holes on the red arms underneath. I have been watching, no issues seen. I have been using it for about 2 years on and off for projects.

Here is the thread with the jack modifications. I’ve been using my harbor freight lift that I modified like the thread for 6+ years now with no issues. Works great and doesn’t need any silly shims, spacers or adaptors.

How to modify jack for dynas

I'm using the same jack with no modifications other than a couple of blocks of wood to get the bike to sit level.

I have a J&S jack and am happy with it. Very stable and can be moved around as it has wheels.

That's the one I was trying to remember the name of. Like the Craftsman jack but the lifting pads are farther apart which allows you to get around the sump guard that hangs down on the dyna frame. No need for wooden spacers, but the price differential far exceeds the cost of the wood blocks...

Seems impossible to get a J&S. Website says out of stock and people have been waiting months.
