Default Removing speedometer - advice please!

I'm about to replace the stock speedo on my 2012 FXDB Street Bob with a digital one. I'm ok with the removal and installation but wonder if I need to pull the main fuse? Can I just turn off ignition and leave it armed with the red light flashing, keep fob present and go ahead removing connectors on speedo ready to install new unit. Service manual does not mention pulling main fuse but new speedo instructions does. What think you guys?

What is the downside of removing the main fuse? When power is not needed for a mod I pull the main fuse. What speedo are you going with?

I either pull the main fuse, or disconnect the battery anytime I work on the electrical system that involved unplugging connectors or systems that connect to the ECM or BCM etc.. Not including replacing light bulbs.

It may be overkill, better safe than sorry.

The new speedo will have to be married to the ECM and the milage transfered , of course that's when power is needed otherwise pull the main fuse.

Pull the fuse man, better safe than sorry, and how hard is it to pop the fuse out?

Well I installed the new speedo today having pulled the main fuse which was a pain getting the plastic housing off. Anyway the speedo went on easy and works perfectly.
