That's not true. A light bulb is not a constant wattage device. It produces the rated wattage only at the rated voltage. That's why a dimmer works; increase the voltage and the current goes up and the lamp gets brighter. Increase it too much and the bulb burns out.

By your logic you could take your tail light bulb and plug it into a household outlet and it would be the same brightness as on the bike. And, your 55 watt headlight would be the same brightness when the engine is running (14 volts) as when it is not (12 volts).

I think we've hijacked this thread long enough.
