Dyna Engine Firing Weird
I’ll try to make this brief but it’s kindof a loaded issue.
Got a Dyna recently and it had electrical damage so I wasn’t able to ride it (other than a quick test ride) but got it for a good deal so bought it anyways. 2013 SB. Has a Stage IV SE 103 bolt on kit. (The one with CNC heads, 259e, and 58mm TB)
Ive sorted the electrical and took it for a blast. It’s running like Dog ****.
Check the codes.(All New Codes)
P0444- Purge Solenoid Open/Low
P1475- Exhaust Actuation Position Error
P1655- ACR Solenoid Open/Low
Bike does not have Auto Compression Release. Just Manual.
I’ve had some backfires here and there.
When riding there’s no real power to speak of.
I set the odometer to show RPM and while driving it won’t show over 2900ish. If I rev it in neutral it seems to work as normal.
The most concerning thing is when it gets hot and im sitting at idle… the engine noise changes like I’ve never heard on a bike.
hard to describe, but if normal is
”Potato Potato”. It’s rapid fire. Like saying Potato with a stutter. Lol. “Po Po Po Po Po Po Po Po.”
But it’s strong. Just firing very fast.
I’m sure it’s running lean, but anything else I should check? Other than horrible StealerShip Tune. (FP3)
Thanks in advance.

How do you know it's running lean? Have you checked the splark plug color? Sounds like and expensive exercise to make it run in it's original configuration. Think out side the box. Do an EFI to carb conversion. Thunder Heart Stand Alone Ignition System, Mikuni HSR 42 complete kit and a carbed Twin Cam intake manifold. That's what I used on my EFI 07 Dyna. CAUTION - IF this is a viable option for you, CALL THUNDER HEART 1st. See how to wire in the power with that damn CANBUS System.

Assuming that all electrical problems were fixed, and fixed correctly, I'm going to guess it's your tune...
Based on the codes...
I don't believe the 49 states bikes had a purge solenoid. I thought that was just for the CA bikes with the charcoal canister on the fuel tank vent... is your bike a CA bike?
I believe the exhaust a actuation is only on international models. Is your bike an international model?
It can't be both of the above...
You have manual compression releases on your bike. The person who tuned it should know that and should have turned off the ACRs in the tune.
All these codes don't match your bike, which suggests to me there is a problem with the tune and/or tuner (person)......
Just a guess based on the info you posted..

My gut told me it was the Tune also.
I know Harley did the Tune.
The main wiring harness was damaged, but was fixed. That doesn’t mean it didn’t fry something along the way.
As far as tune, I have a few options. I could call and get another canned map for the FP3. Or possibly just get into it and turn off these options.
I also have an old school Power Vision that I never used on my street glide. So it’s got a good license. I could get a canned map for that and run auto tune.
Or use the power Vision and get a legit tune. The tuners obviously are booking way out… so that beats me out of the rest of the riding season.
Either way I’ll be getting a dyno tune eventually, but wanted to wait for a few upgrades first.
I'm a fan of, and use PowerVision for my bikes. I would try the PowerVision route since you already have a license... While I have mostly used FuelMoto for tune support, I have also used DynoJet, albeit many years ago, and received some good tune support also..
Keep us posted on your progress...
Good luck with dialing it in... should be a fun bike once it's sorted out...

So I called them up and had the service guy tell me that when downloading a map they have a prompt for CA or Non. And that more than likely someone downloaded the wrong map. So I’ve got an Appt to send it in there and have them sort it out.
I’m going to save the power vision for after I upgrade a few things and take it to get Dyno tuned. It’ll just complicate things with the dealer guys.
Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea that all these codes had CA complaint in common. That was a big help man.
I’ll let you know how it turns out. Always a gamble when taking it to HD. Lol.
