I am new to the forum and am enjoying reading all of the interesting, yet entertaining info. I've learned a lot, whether I wanted to or not.
My question: I have a 2007 Superglide. I am 6'2" and feel I have to lean forward a couple of inches to reach the stock handlebars. I commute 52 miles one way to work and my back gets stiff after a while. I replaced the stock seat with the sundowner deep bucket and plan to eventually get the forward controls.
Which handlebars would be most comfortable. I am not sure I want some as tall as the mini apes. I heard about baby apes. Whats the difference?
Mini Apes aren't tall at all. My SB is the first bike I've ever owned with apes and I find them comfortable. My hands are below shoulder level when riding and they don't even seem like apes to me anymore. I'm not familiar with 'baby apes.'
Try 4" risers, I am 6'2' and these helped a lot.also ride a '07 superglide. Here is a photo.HD has them for $100, they might tell you they won't fit your bike, but they do, all you have to do is let your brake hose off it's little clamp to extend more, no other cable mods needed.
I got mini's and they are very comfortable. I'm 6'6"and I've found you can get just the right position for your back by rotating the bars forward or back in the clamps.
I have gone with five up and two back rizers with a two inch rize drag bar I am six foot tall and am thinking of going two four inch straight rizers so I lean tnto them for more comfort.JMO
HD,
Would you happen to know the model # of your Buckhorns? Harley or elswhere?
Been searching for new handlebars for my SG, and yours look a little more comfortable than the mini-apes.
Call tech help or email them at JP cycles, go on the website. Tell them what you got and they will hook you up. Someone here with a 07 just did this yesterday and the buckhorns are in the mail
