Are all years of the Switchback fairly the same?
I ask because I purchased a quick detach rack for a "behind the solo seat set up". That way I can run a solo seat with the rack directly over the rear wheel for a more nostalgic solo look. The vendor said it came off a 2015 FLD.
However when I went to install it on my 2012 I found it too long. Nothing lined up with the docking points. The side to side spacing was correct, but not the fore and aft spacing.
Are ALL Switchbacks the same in this regard?
Should a detachable item off a 2015 fit a 2012?
Is it possible the previous owner installed the quick detach mounts at a different spacing to accommodate a rack off a Softail or touring line?
Yes, All of them were the same, are you maybe mixing aftermarket parts with HD OEM? Can you move the QD grooves to the other holes in fender struts?
I had the traditional rack on the sissy bar. I do have heel shifter set up from my old switch if you are interested.

This is all new to me, I did NOT know you could move the Quick Detach set up to other holes in the fender struts. How does one do that?
And YES, I al interested in a heel and toe shifter set up as long as it's a direct replacement.
Well I don’t want you to get over your head with tech. But measure the front to back on the rack and compare to the where the fender struts have bolt holes, see if anything match’s.
maybe post a picture of your issue?
The heel shifter was never offered by HD for the SB, so what I have FS is pieced together, you can see it on my FS thread here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...ar-helmet.html.
it works as it should but you need to modify one piece as I outlined, I just traded bikes that is w habits for sale

Yeah thanks I couldn’t just run out and look at mine anymore,I had looked for close up pictures I may have and I just didn’t have any. I was thinking there was another set of holes in the struts like a Sportster has.
I would say that rack is probably for another Harley, the FLD is unique as it mixed Dyna sized frame with traditional FL looking fenders.
i made a rack to store my FLD sissy bar with back rack which would be the right or same spacing.
