New experience for me and my Dyna
I picked up my 2017 Low Rider in January.
I knew that it would be best to get a second key fob, and to also find out what the PIN is so in case I need it.
I ordered a new Fob from the dealer and took the bike down to get it programmed.
I watched a YouTube video on how to obtain the PIN that is assigned to the bike.
I felt no need to change it, so I wrote it down and put it on my phone.
Today I am out at a dealer and go to leave and sure enough, there is no lights or ignition to start the bike, on the security / turn signal flashers were flashing.
When I bought the bike, a new battery was installed so I wondered if the original key fob I had on me had a dead battery.
So I pulled out my phone and found the PIN.
Now the question is, "How do I use it?" I forgot about learning that part.
Again, looked up a video on YouTube and followed the instructions and got the bike started.
When I got home, I changed the Fob battery and also reset the clock from last week's clock setting marathon!
I have to figure out where to keep a spare key Fob battery on me in case I need to do this again, or maybe help a friend.
Are you prepared if your key fob battery dies?

That's what I did every year with no problem. Last year I got a **** battery I guess cause I had to put a new battery in the fob after about 1 month. When the bike was totaled at the end of the riding year I got a replacement Dyna with no alarm. One less thing to worry about

Pretty sure on my '17 if you turn the ignition on and the fob isn't present it goes into PIN mode automatically. My proximity system was not original equipment on the bike, as a matter of fact I just added it last year. It seems like there are lots of options for the tech when they do an install and there is no SOP on how those options are applied. For instance my bike had the physical ignition on top of the tank and there is an option to cut that out of the system. I removed mine and took the bike back to be reprogrammed AGAIN and the tech said, "man, we should have just done that the first time". Yeah, thanks for telling me about the option jackass. Cost me another 1/2 shop hour.
I've owned my bike for 14 years and have never figured out how to successfully enter the PIN. I think I tried changing it when I first bought it, but never got it to actually start the bike.
Now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll lose the keyfob on a ride this summer.
