Pretty open ended question because there's a lot of seats out there.

What's he have now?

I can only speak to what appear to be the most popular ones and I don't know for sure BUT I've been doing a lot of reading and have sat on a Sundowner; for bang for the buck I don't think you're going to find a better deal than the Sundowner. You can get a Sundowner for around $200.

It does look a little bulky in comparison to the the Mustang or Corbins though...

For "the best seat" I keep hearing Corbin or Mustang. . The Corbin appears to be an almost completely custom while Mustang has a few different styles to choose from with the only options being with or without conchos. Both are more expensive than the Sundowner with the cheapest being the Mustang starting at around $300.

I personally went with the Mustang wide with the drivers back rest. A bit more expensive but I'd rather spend a little extra now than shell out $200 for something that I could get by on but would be wishing I'd spent that little bit extra for what I really wanted.

To each his (or her) own though...

I had a Mustang Vintage Solo on my 06 Sportie. It was a great seat and looks killer. I have a buddy with a Mustang Regal and he swears by it. It does have an old school look and is very comfortable as well. Prob what i will go with eventually.

HD Sundowner is also a good choice. Comfortable for both the rider and passenger.

The sundowner seems to be a nice seat for me. 6'2" 215#, but there are plenty of seats to choose from.

I have a Mustang Wide Solo with Backrest and Mustang Wide Passenger. Very comfortable and the backrest is great. A little pricey, but worth the investment. You can try a Mustang and if you do not like it, they will take it back. The best way to test various seats is go to a large MC rally. The vendors are there and you can try the seats out. Try a couple and see how the feel. Everybody's butt is different.
