Wide glide, 'specially if you're.... umm.. NOT vertically challenged Forward controls, mini apes, great for those 3-400 mile a day daytrips. And get a sissy bar so ya got someplace to strap your pack to without having to spoil the looks and get bags[8D].
Holy Wide Glide people... It gets my vote, even in the funky colors for 08'. I prefer the forward controls and dig the look of the raked out front end with the 21" wheel.
Honestly though, go rent a Dyna for a day. Some people have balance troubles with the Wide Glide while some people have trouble withgetting their pant leg caught on the mid controls while putting a leg down.
I've been averaging 600 to 700 miles per week this summer.
I prefer the basic black FXD Dyna Super Glide with detachable windshield, Sundowner seat, and throw-over saddlebags. The wheels are easy to keep clean and have tubeless tires.
Don't just go with what we're tellin' ya...sit on a bunch of bikes first & decide which one fits YOUR particular body height & weight the best. I say "sit" because up here in MA the local Harley dealers won't let anyone test ride anything...never really understood that anyway since all the bikes on the floor don't get gas & a connected battery until their ready to be picked up by their newowner anyway?
I'm 6', 220 lbs & coming off rice rockets in the past I wanted a bike that I could really stretch out & feel 110% comfortable on. I personally don't like the Super Glide, the lower rider felt too small &the street bob felteven smaller. I felt great on the wide glide, but EVEN BETTER on the Super Glide Custom so that's the one I went with. Be careful with your decision & make sure you really pick a bike that you truely love...you don't want to have over $3K invested into a bike a few months down the road that your having second thoughts about!
08 wide glide is last year and then discontinued 2008 only avil in duracell paint but most dealers still have plenty of 07 on the floor and are willing to deal
Hope you hear some of the guys above, you got 2008 for the last year its being made. Its a real ridable bike. Hope you make a good decesion. But I got a favority that I ride.
