Somehow, somewhere today I lost the cap to the oil filler assembly. Just the cap! I don't think it got stolen (I hope not), I don't recall being out site of the bike where anyone could do that.
I believe it fell off, but I have no idea how it cold happen.
After 2 years, and nearly 20,000 miles, it is the only thing that has fallen off the bike, besides me.
Been wanting to replace it anyway, just hadn't decided on the perfect piece, yet.
Has this happened to anybody else?? I would feel a lot better knowing it may have fallen off vs being pryed off.
Did you really kick-up the rpm's on it during your ride? Sometimes enough pressure will build-up from blowby that it will blow it out if it's not securely seated (and sometimes if it is).

RR, The 06Dynas screw in. It is just the cap. It seems that it just clips on over prongs in the assembly. The dipstick and all else is still there.
Have to admit when I got off the bike all I saw was a hole, and was looking for oil to be everywhere. Nobody opened tomorrow, so I'll just have to ride ugly.
i have an 03 wide glide and when i went to pull the dip stick the other day all i end up with was just the metal part of it in my hand the rubber part with the dip stick stayed in the hole looks like they might have been a little glue on the under side of the metal cap but just stuck it back on so i would say it was possible for it to vibrate off guess I'd better keep a check on mine. but yeah they are some aftermarket ones i would like to have but they want a small fortune for them.
Don't know what it will cost to replace, but I can't go around wth a bike hole showing there.
Maybe a widemouth bottle lid will fit or something like that............. I could ride around with a cap that Welch's or MinuteMaid on it.
Looks like a vew chrome piece is in store to be purchased.

Critter,
Is that your Glide in the picture??? It sure is a nice looking bike.
yeah one of the first cheap things i noticed on this dyna was the cheapo stick guess the sticks from the earlier dynas cost willi to much. never had it blow out of the hole either
yeah that's my baby but need to up date my pics got a set of Sampson calibers on it now and put the flush mount gas cap and gauge on it. getting ready to tear all the sheet metal off got new tank and front fender
and waiting on a full fender for the rear plan on getting everything fitted and painted over the winter.
mine looks similar to yours except the top is solid rubber and the cap just snaps over the rubber.
