Just bought a chrome trans side cover and wanting some info on how to put on. I tried to seach for a thread related to this but couldn't find anything.
Found on e-bay:
used chrome trans side cover - $10
used chrome primary cover - $80
Seeing it on your bike - Priceless!!!!!!!!!
Mine is an evo wide glide. Don't know how much difference there is in the cover.Probably not much. I have a service manual and parts book for mine. PM me and maybe I could fax youa copy of pics.
if you can get your hands on a clymer manual or a HD service manual for your model it makes the job real easy. You will need a good pair of snap ring pliers (autozone, pepboys). You will loose a little bit of trans oil, keep the bike on the jiffy stand that will minimize the oil loss. it's not that hard just have a manual in front of you, oh and maybe a new gasket, cheap insurance.
Good advice seniorsuperglideE8. A service manual is a must for your bike.I have both the Clymer and the Harley manuals. Like the Harley one the best.
chouglan;Or you can take thisopportunity todrain your transif you haven't yetand replace the oil with some good oil like Mobil 1 75-90 gear oil or Amsoil. Once I changed to Mobil 1, the trasmission shifts smoother.
yes, yes, on the mobil 1. go one step farther. buy some plastic baby bottles that are measured in ounces, measure out 22 ounces and use that amount to fill your trans. that amount won't burp or vent out along the inside of your inner primary case making you wonder where "this leak" came from. been there about 25K miles ago.
