Sorry if this has been asked before. (please direct me to the thread)
Has anyone installed a 180 or wider rear tire on a "08 FXD?
I noticed there is enough room between the belt and 160 tire to slip my fingers in there.
I've also been thinking of going larger on my rear tire when this one wears out. Is there any real advantage to a larger rear tire? I know there are some disadvantages, insofar as it takes more effort to lean... I guess if I was putting out 300 ft. lbs of torque at the rear wheele I guess it would offer more traction... But for most of us I'm guessing the advantage is purely cosmetic...?
I just ordered the GT502 Harley Dunlop 180 for my 06. This will be my fourth tire, and the guys I have talked to liked the 180.
You are probably going to get a smoother ride, and improved feel on the corners.
I think tire wear is debatable with the upgrade.
I will let you know in about 7000 (or less).
I am not using the kit.
Note the GT502 is the only 180 (or was when I did my research) designed to fit the 4.5 inch rim on the Dyna.
I have the 180 on my 07. I didn't have to buy the entire kit. Apparently, there are two brackets inside the fender (?) that cost about $20.00 that does the trick. My dealer didn't screw me over by telling me I had to buy the entire kit.

NICE ride!!!! Jake. Can you post a better pick of the wheels, and where did you get them?
Dude....You might want to call one of the forums sponsors HOGPRO. Their web address and phone number are on the forums. They can give you advice and hook you up. They helped me put an 18 inch rear wheel and wider tire on my bike without and major rear end mods. If you call, ask for Jerry; He knows his stuff and is great at giving advice. Good luck.
