OK, I'm at 9K on my Bob. While looking over the bike, I see the front pads are getting very near replacement(especially the inside one) and the rears will be there shortly. Two questions;
1. Is that OK mileage for OE pads?
2. What is the 'hot set-up' for pads? Some say Lindall(?)
Thank You,
1.) There is no standard answer for "good mileage" when it comes to motorcycle brake pads.
2.) Lyndalls are said to befine pads. Personally, I use and like EBC Kevlars. Only 19 bucks a pair from Jireh Cycles.

Thanks, I can understand the variables on the mileage issue, I was justhoping to seewhat the 'word on the street' was. What the heck does EBC stand for? I know Kevlar, love their clothing
I have 20,000 miles on my '06 FXDBI and still have quite a bit of front pad left. Rear pads will be replaced as soon as the snow falls. I live on gravel; hence the heavier wear on the rear pads...
Many varibles to take into account on this subject.
OK, cool. I thought itwasan acronym for something like.Extreme Braking Composite
Man, Tuck, I guess I've been a little rough on them fronts, eh?
Sounds like you give 'em a work out anyway. I remember the first time a grabbed a big handfull of front brake on gravel (1981?). I still have the scar on my left wrist to remind me!
All them years of dirt bikin' and front brake usage are hard to break(no pun intended). I do use the rears too, but apparently I use the fronts a little more.
