Default ? on powder coating Spokes

I am fixing to have my fork lowers/triple trees powder coated black and my rims/hubs done red. I am trying to decide if I want to leave the spokes alone orgo black with them.

If I decide to go ahead withthe black on the spokes, I am assuming all but the threads will be powder coated? If so, is it common for a good bit of the threads to be left in the open after they are re-threaded? This is what has got me undecided if I want to do it or not. Dont know if it would look bad with some thread showing on some spokes and some not showing thread, even though the nipples would still beuncoated....

If anyone else has powrder coated spokes and would care to tell me how it went down I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

you can always tape the threads so they are not shot.... it is not that involved just tie consuming... i would say DO IT!

To me, if you leave the nipples uncoated( oh,man there has to be a joke in that, somewhere) a few threads shouldn't matter. I don't think there would be much more than a eighth of an inch of threads showing. It's all about the details, IMHO.

metal_mike, looks great. So tell us...are those spokes easier to maintain than chrome? I like the look of wire wheels, but damn...there's no way I can spend the time necessary to keep them shiny.

We powder coat spoke all the time and leave a few threads coated for that very reason. USUALLY, there are no threads protruding from the nipple after the rim is trued, but there's always that one time! Powder coated spokes are a breeze to keep clean!!! A little soap and water and a quick wipe, hose them off and go for a ride... DONE.
