Ok so here is what I am looking at. I have my rims already powder coated red (last year) and would like to take the hubs in and have them done in red also, then I was thinking about having the spokes powder coated black and was wondering if anyone has done this if there was any interference problems where the spoke goes through the rim or hub or any other problems, if any.
In case your wondering I have a street bob in denim black with now red rims and crome spokes and alum. hub.
stanger I say do it....... . . .. .Youve broke'em down once . ..with so much detail....this time outta be a breeze...............Black spokes with red hubs on what you got would look Kick ***....................... . ..................Just do it...................Im still wanting to do mine.....just got started in that other bike, and didnt want to release any more funds......... . . .maybe oneday............................ . . ......................................
I just had mine done, the only problem was on the back rim add a few places where the uncoated threads did not go into the nipples...but a little flat black touch up paint and it is good. I really like th way mine came out.
DaxE,
Funny thing, I was just looking at the thread just above mine here and it was yours of your bike and may I say DAM NICE RIDE! That is just about the exact look I have been looking to go with! I did my rims some time ago in red and was waiting to see whatI thought about doing the black spokes and well now there is no question, it is a done deal. I would like to ask you a question though, on the hubs did you remove the bearings or ? and if so did you intall new ones? Funny also is that this all started late this year was looking and I need new tires, wait what about black spokes, wait, the lowers on the front could go black, wait the ....... and here I am, knowing now that what I thought I would be getting back from the gov. in a couple months now goes to the credit card to pay for powder coating and ect. HA HA
LoLife,
Hey man what you did with the other scoot, dam brother I do not blame you cause that is the sickest ride I have seen! You went with something that nobody has really ever done and that is just too cool. But hey, when you do if you do go red rims, trust me if you can build that bad a$$ scoot you will be bored with the rim project! HA HA
Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out here.
I left the bearings in, they just masked over them. And yeah thats about how mine went down also, I was just doing tires and a suspension upgrade to start.......
Be careful leaving those bearings in the hubs for powder coating. I've had two sets lock up so I strongly suggest to my customers to remove them first... a lot cheaper that way.
