Growing up skiing you learned how to gear up for the cold. You can dress and ride in almost any temperature, as long as there is no ice.

Teenagerwithout a car, rode year round, but most of the time you'd wait for the plows to clear the roads. (yeah, kinda stupid, but I was young)

Mid 20's, divorced and lost everything but the bike and clothes on my back, got tired of riding in the cold, moved to Florida. didn't have much luggage, made sense.

When people say Florida is warm year round, Bullsh!t, I had a40 mile (one way) commute down Hwy. 75, it was usually in the 30's before sunrise (winter time), but the ride home was uaually nice, might have been wet, but fairly warm. (kinda rains alot down there in the afternoon)

Mid 40's now, back up in the Northeast, new wife, we actually just bought a second vehicle so I wouldn't have to ride this winter, bike is jacked up for modifications.

Can you say "Wuss?"

Go ahead, I deserve it! But it's been a long time waiting for this day, and my dicks gonna enjoy awarmer commute for the first time in many years.

I also live in North Central texas and know exactly what your saying. I get the same thing from the guys I work with!!!! For me if there aint frost on the ground and the bike will start I will ride. Just have to know how to dress for it and that means layering and good head/face cover and good gloves with Thinsulate lining. But everyone has thier own limits

I stay away from highway ridin' when temps reach below 42* or so, but went ridin' last Friday (sunny, 45*) and it was beautiful!Of course wearinggloves, thermal wear, facemask, somethin' to cover the ears...ect always makes for a more comfortable ride during these kinds of temps.

I'm an old fart and anything below 55 is just not enjoyable/funas far as I am concerned and that's why I ride...I guess I could bundle up like the Pillsbury dough boy when it's 15-25% and do 15 miles, but, I certainly could't say that it was fun, not with a straight face...Granted some have no other means of transportation and to those folks I can only say more power to you...,but, it's not for me.

O.k. - I tried today. It was 37 and I had to go about 15 miles each way, on the freeway. I put on my denim shirt, my biker vest and my leather jacket. I even put on my 3/4 helmet with the face mask.

I left and went about 6 blocks and turned around and came home. I have a pretty tricked out almost new (04)car and a almost new (06)Chevy Van. Why torture myself just to prove a point. Not worth it to me. Say I have no b--ls if you want, but at almost 67 years old, it's not for me. I changed clothes and drove in comfort. Now I know what temps I won't ride in.

Wow, we got a guy from Arizona telling us to grow a set, and a guy from Florida agreeing and calling us R.U.Bs. I guess you guys need to come up to Northern Minnesota and show me how to ride in the cold.
