Default sert data cable question

I purchased the SERT and air intake for x-mas. Cables were not in stock. The manuel said the bike has a 4 pin plug. I looked at the bike today and it looks like a three pin plug with the fourth missing. Quetion ? Is this correct or my plug is missing a pin?
Thanks for the help.

You can't have it both ways. If the plug has four pin holes, it's a four pin plug no matter how many wire pins are in it.

I am going to dealer tomorrow for the wires. The manuel said the bikes data port is a four pin. I looked at the connection today
on the bike. It has 3 pins but one looks like it is missing. The manuel sas its suppose to be a 4 pin male port. I was worried that maybe one was broken off. First time I have looked at it since bought the bike. 07 SB
I also will have to get an adapter for my lap top bcause it is a 15 pin and the interface moduler is a 9.

That 15 pin is a VGA out. You need to also purchase a Belkin "USB to serial" adapter.

3 out of 4 ain't bad.... There is nothing wrong with yourbike or SERT cables. That is the same as mine.

Rambobob, Just last evening I used the SERT to program the ECM. Do yourself a BIG favor and avoid the The hassle I went through.
Get a BELKIN, USB to Serial Cable and use windows XP. Thanks to HD and or Microsoft windows Vista WILL NOT Work!
I went to office Depot and purchased the Belkin. Circuit city and Best Buy did not carry belkin USB to serial connector.
The Cable number I got was F5U409-CU . Fry's electronics is another place to try.
If it doesn't connect try switching com ports on the SE Tuning menu. You can email me for any issues and I can call you if you need any help.

rambobob, Check out this thread for a little more info on the SERT.

https://www.hdforums.com/m_2675672/tm.htm

BTW, In the SERT user's manual under "TroubleShooting" It states to use a Belkin cable. Go Figure!

Thanks for the help. Dealer said the pins on bike used to be four now its three, makes no difference. Did buy a adapter and it did not work. Went and got the Belkin and it worked first time. Also installed air intake. Cant wait to ride.

Dyna, what map did you use? I used a canned one first and will try one of Mud/JamieWG's next.
