Anyone tried power cones with their exhaust system. I run Shortshot Staggered,s, and seen the cones on ebayfor $12 at robs cycles. The write up claims to rid cold air returning up the pipes on decel causing popping.
Any opinions guys.
I have Samson II, Rip Saws on my 103",SE Fat Boy. They are 1 3/4" drag pipes, with no baffles. The original owner had them installed, before he took delivery of the bike. He also had "power cones" installed. The bike runs great, with no noticable loss of power in the low, mid or high rev range.
The only complaint I have, is the exhaust is too loud, but it runs so good, I hate to change the exhaust system and take the chance that it will not run as well.
There are different opinions on how well power cones work, but they must do something good in order for my bike to run as well as it does with drag pipes.

If your gonna run a short or long straight pipe then the torque cones will help with some much needed back pressure...There not gonna stop any Decel popping... Get the Bike Tunned...
Hey Trotter,
A couple of questions...
Do you know where to find Power cones for an 07 Street Bob. JP Cycles only has them for Evo's and Twin Cam 88.
Do you use them with your VH Short Shots Staggered. If yes, do they make a big difference?
Do you think I would see better Performance by adding Power cones or Quiet Baffles (or Both)?
And will I need a remap for my PCIII (any time I do something to my exhaust I'm thinking I might need a new map but I could be wrong)
Getting ready to install my Stage 1 when my VH SS Staggered arrive. I think I can add the baffles while they are on back order and not delay the shipment date. My only concern is I want the pipes to be loud and i'm thinking that quiet baffles might effect that. Maybe power cones with the standard baffles might be the best solution for me but i'm not sure.
If your gonna run the standard baffles I would use the torque cones... I did and it helped on the low end .... But it just sounded LOUD with alot of high overtones... Switch to the quiet baffles with out the Cones and it sounded so much better and the low end was a little better.. As far as remapping I don't know what the map is for that your running now so hard for me to tell.. Little more Info needed...When you say Stage 1 do you mean high flow A/C or the stage 1 down load ? The A/C and Exhaust are only 2 parts of the 3 to make up the Stage 1 process .. Hope this helped and I covered all yer questions.. if details needed call 703-280-0766 skip

The Stage one i'm installing is an SE High Flow AC with a K&N Filter, the VH Short Shots Staggered in Black and a Power Commander III / USB.
I'll call tomorrow and add the Quiet Baffles to my order. I'll call Jaime at Fuel Moto and ask if I need a new map. I'll post back so anyone else with a similar question will have the answer.
just a quick follow up... I spoke to Jamie at Fuel Moto. He said that the map for standard baffles should work with the quiet baffles. He said if I experience anything unusual to let him know and he'll make some adjustments and send me an updated map.
