I'm missing my ride. I bought my 07 FXDC in june when my son graduated from high school. Got a chance to put 6000 miles on it before putting it away in early november. It is my first road bike since the early 80's. Had a 1980 kawasaki 1000 LTD but I don't remember missing it as badly as I do this bike when it was put away for the winter.
Today here in western NY the temp is 5 degrees an expecting a foot of snow. I've been doing winter mods (Vance& Hines BSS, K&N 3909, and powercommander) but I can't even test it out.
The chances of riding before Easter are about 0. Just wondered if anyone else feels the same way and just needed someone to commiserate with.
I feel the same way Graduate. 22 below 0 F yesterday when I left for a Patriot Guard Riders mission. The windchill was insane. I was proud to stand in the flag line for a fallen hero. The cold was nothing compared to the sacrifices our soldiersmake everyday. I was pretty greatful to climb into a warm bed last night. Its gonna have to warm up quite a bit before I put the battery back in my WG.
Don't feel alone on this as many live where ya got snow and ice with single digit temps! Your situation sounds almost exactly like mine as I had a yamaha in the 80's and like you did'nt seem to miss it as badly as the HD. I think that when we do get to ride we (riders that live in the cold country) will appreciate it even more! All you guys that live where ya can ride year-round are a bunch of spoiled two balled bitc$es!!! hehehe! [:'(]---I think I got to move down there!!! Got the cabin fever for sure!!!
Pull up a chair have a beer and we will all cry together. Single digits here today. I would have no problem riding today if it weren't for the darn road salt. No way to wash it off. Of course the ride would only be around the block once or twice but it would be a ride. I don't know if hanging on the web helps or hurts!!
Bought mine over the phone from Iraq in June of 2007; picked it up 3 weeks later while home on vacation dropped it off at the shop 3 weeks later for mods upgrades until I went home again in October. Put the bike away in November at the end of my vacation and won't be picking it up unti June, so yes, I know how you feel.
Hey Graduate.....I'm definately feeling the same. I'm also from around the same area (Rochester, NY), and I can relate to the weather andhow long winter hangs around here.Feels like we gofrom winter right into summer!!!! As I write this, it is now 15 degrees out. Dam it's cold!!!!!!!
