PCIII installed
Yesterday morning my PCIII and Big sucker arrived from Fuel Moto. Put them on last night, it was cold (33 or so), and I didn’t have my cold gear but I just had to take a test run. A little slick too. What a spectacular difference! Went about 2 miles, grabbed air hitting 2nd twice, broke the 6200 red line right off the bat in 1st, (one thing I wish PCIII would do is get to about 7 grand)thanks for NOT putting the not needed tach on the Bob HD<sic>. It was like it was a different bike, I'm running my stock slip-ons with some minor work to the baffles, it instantly came alive with a deeper more throaty sound, I love it. 1st time I fired it up I jumped it sounded so much different at startup, started like it had a candle up its ***, really lit! It’s raining and cold today, but I went out and ran around for an hr anyway, sure stopped ALL backfiring and surging, I came in outa the rain after sliding 1/2 way through an intersection.)
PCIII as opposed to other Fuel management:
With the Big Sucker, it only ran me about $395, and it runs very well. It came with a pre loaded map that seems right on to me at least, I will run a dyno in a month or so to see what I got as I become more versed in what to look for and put a few miles on it.
Fuelpac might have been an option but I wasn’t putting pipes on yet and have talked enuf to Fuel Moto to believe they do good work, that and their rep is pretty dam good.
HD Screaming Eagle Race Tuner=SERT-expensive(a good reason to look around but not in itself a reason to eliminate it). If what I’m hearing is right, you have to have it tuned w a dyno, another 2 or 3 bills, now cost is becoming an issue. Still need the A/C and probably pipes, Yikes, cost is really starting to climb. Stuck with narrow gauge os2 sensors because of epa bull snot.
And MOST importantly, it’s hard to find a truly GOOD tuner depending on where you live to run the dyno and work the software right.
ThunderMax electronic fuel injection system=I don’t know too awful much about it, sounds good that it replaces the narrow band os2 with wide band, and instead of hooking to your ECU it replaces it with its own, but gets costly.
I hope I made the right decision, right now it feels like I did, time will tell

I'm picking up a set of Cobra Dragsters in a few weeks along with the Fi2000R ....i'm wondering how that will fair.... i read it's quite good and serves the bike well
congrat on your setup!

Arnold just for your Info ... The sert comes with plenty of maps for different set up'salso... You can load them with any Laptop in your drive way in minutes. but the plus is theres nothing to physically attach to the bike, and later you can go as far as you want with any kind of build or not..You plug it in, download the map, unhook the wire and your done.. Nothing to stuff away some place.. Dynoing is your choice

My biggest issue w the SERT was finding a local tech that would assist or tune that I was comfortable with. I would have liked to turn the RPM up to around 7 for those "special" moments, and I understand I could do that w the SERT. Im wondering if there isnt another way or tool to acomplish this while leaving the PCIII settings intact except for that setting.
If I had been in your neck 'o the woods, you might have convinced me to go SERT with no argument, I didnt find that w my dealer. I AM happy with the service dpt at my dealer, they have always taken prompt care of any issue I had on the spot, (nothing major but still good service), but they are just getting a dyna now. Also I have seen several bikes w EFI popping etc out of there so I went the way I was most comfortable w the provider. I am sure the SERT is a fine tool in the hands of someone who works it right. Im totaly new to EFI and didnt want to start out trying to upload maps at this time just yet. I took the " plug n play" route.
" Nothing to stuff away some place" Yeah, that was kinda fun but I made it work, I didnt follow directions on locating it, found an easy spot but it still takes up space.

We tune with all three PCIII, SERT, Thundermax, There all good but even with the PCIII as all the others you'll need to chk to make sure the preloaded map is Right... Every bike is diffrent out of the crate... The preloaded Maps are close.. But after spending all that money why skimp on the final step to dial it in... ( Which goes back to my original Post ) I'll recomend a tuner in your aera and set it up for you if needed.. We all talk quite often...
Thanks, that would be good. I dont wanna do that till I make my decision about -and install pipes tho, might be a month fore I can aford pipes, then another to do a final tune.
