Adding Chrome to Forward Controls
I just purchased a new set of forward controls for my 2008 Low Rider. The piece that goes on the splined end of the shifter is not chrome. Only a small portion protrudes above the engine case, however it spoils the look of the rest of the engine. Has anybody chromed this piece and if so what were some of the challenges you encountered?
I have done zero research on this subject and I am looking for some quick info.
Thanks,
m.a.c.

Are you are referring to the transmission shift rod lever (33849-97) that the gearshift linkage connects to? If so, then HD has a selection of polished gear shift linkages that can be found on page 212 of the 2007 accessory catalogue. A polished stainless steel cover that goes over the shift rod lever is included along with the hardware to mount the shift linkage. Also, you might see what Kuryakyn has available, they have chrome covers for just about every thing else on a Harley, they may have a cover for the shift rod lever too.
