prep for paint
well, i cut my fender and chopped an inch off the bracket to lower it. filled in the holes and reattached fender to bracket with jb weld. iv sanded it down and used glasing putty to smooth out the scratches.i want to prime it myself.what sandpaper should i use before priming and wet sand or no. im goinr to have it painted but want to prep it myself. any tips would be appreciated. thanks in advance
I would use 500 then 1000 grit and wet sand the hell out of it.If you have big scratches you can use a courser grit like 150 on an electric sander till it starts to feel smooth. They also make a filler/primer that can actually fill some small imperfections as you spray it.Also if you're wet sanding make sure you give it plenty of time to dry before you try spraying it.Now, how about some pics?
id love to post some pictures but i dont have the means. i tried sending from my phone but cant get them on the computor.thanks for the feedback. i sanded everything pretty good and used glasing compound and re sanded. i primed it today and it dosent look bad, just 2 very small spots. i might try thatfiller primer too. thanks again. i will wet sand with 800 grit before i bring it for paint
