My first service was done at the dealer 500 miles ago, I was checking oil level the other day & its up to the hot level (with cold engine) I opened the air filter & saw some oil on the SE plate! Did I hurt the engine riding like that for about 500 mile now? Do I need to drain the extra oil? If yes, whats the best easiest way to do so?
Rebel, I don't think you hurt your engine. If you did, then a lot of others have too. Easiest way I found was with a big hypo syringe with a small hose attached. Suck it out thru the fill hole,if you take out too much, squirt it back in. If a syringe is not handy, you'll have to use the drain plug. Let the engine get good and warm before any hard throttle starts and that may help with blow by to the AC.
I'd take it back to the dealer and make them correct the problem, after all, they screwed it up. Plus let the service manager know that he has some real 'winners' working on the bikes.
And next time, be sure to double check their work, obviously they can't be trusted...
drain it all thru the hole, that way you can refill to proper level easier. and make a stop at the dealer too to let them know they suck and tell them they owe you a new a/c filter while you're at it. never understood why people let the dealer do oil changes.[&:]
