Man...so far my winter mods have been right on track with my 96 FXDL, and I have got to say, what a difference! I replaced my narrow glide front end with an Ultima 41mm wide glide front end and relocated my indicator lights to my new bullet style headlight bezel with buttonhead LED's. (Some of you probably remember seeing the pics). I then added a 21" x 2.15" DNA80 spoke (twisted) front wheel, along with a16"x 3.5" rear. I upgraded the rubber to Metzelers and also have added new DNA polished/chrome brake rotors and a matching DNA rear pulley. Snuggled over that 21" front wheel/tire combo,is a DNA 90/90 custom fender that looks freakin awesome! All of this held securely together with polished stainless hardware.
I am just getting ready to install11" HD Progressives in the rear where currentlysitsOEM Harley Davidson 12.5" shocks. Depending on the look (and the actual trail) afterwards, I may lower the front end a bit or leave it alone. Not sure yet..depends on the geometry. Then of course an Alren Ness frame mounted forwardkickstand! Oh, forgot that I am also adding a Lepera Bare Bones seat also.
Ifany of you guys doubt the change in appearance from the 19"to a 21" front wheel conversion, what a world of difference 2" makes! Not too mention all the chrome up front. I am going to finish the job and post some pics come spring when I am completely done.
Many thanks to these great forums for inspiration and hours of sifting through pics and picking your brains for ideas!! My bike is really transforming into what Iwant it to look like!
That sounds kickass! Let me know if you get any squealing from the chrome rotors. I did on mine, switched to Kevlar pads and it went away. It drove me nuts!
Look who has money. How did the front end replacement go. I am doing mine now and have not got to far with it. I will go with a wired rim after I need a front tire. So now it's stock.

Good luck and get some pic's up.
I will post a pic of the end result come spring. Unfortunately, I get very limited time to work on my bike and it takes me most of the winter. Once the weather turns nicer where I can roll it out into the driveway...I'll snap a few pics and post them along with my list of mods.
The front end went fairly smooth except for one of the external fork stops was a bit too thick at the top and was hitting part of the neck (fork lock protrusion) without giving me a full range of turning radius. Not that I need that much turning radiusgoing down the road, but when parking the bike and backing it up and stuff it would have been noticeable.
